“Economic growth is not what everything is based on – but an intact planet ” (Climate Strike – Fridays for Future)
MIRAGE opened the eyes on the environmental problems that are affecting our planet and started thinking now to contribute to the protection and preservation of it. We started investing in energy and resource efficient processes that contribute to a more sustainable use of limited sources and reduced environmental impact. We continuous research and develop new sustainable and recycled materials for our eyewear and look for partners and customers that share our values.
The process of environmental impact reduction started 5 years ago with the first investments in technology and we continue adopting an iterative approacn to achieve sustainability. Here are some examples of what we have done so far:
Full Electric Van for transportation.
100% Led Lights
Heating Pumps for AC & heating system.
Inverter Compressed Air System
Filtered Drinking Water & Metal Water bottles provided to all the employees.
The 33% of our Injection Equipment is Full Electric. The amount of crude oil used in the electric machineries Is 3l, which is 98.7% less than the amount used in the oil dynamic technology (230l).
Tumbling Process with Water Recycling System that uses the same water for over 5 months
Solar Panels System that allows us to self produce the 50% of the energy we need, while the energy we purchase comes 100% from renewable sources.
On March 30th, we have achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification for the creation and implementation of an Environmental Management System.
This is an important recognition of our work to protect the environment and reduce the impact of our activities.
We constantly strive to improve our practices and reduce our environmental impact, and this certification demonstrates our intention to operate in a standardized, planned and transparent manner while increasing the efficiency of our business.
We are always looking for new materials and technologies that allow us to reduce the environmental impact and we partner with the best suppliers for their development and testing. We offer different options of materials for frames, that go from bio-based from renewable sources to recyclable ones. We also complete the product with sustainable lenses and packaging according to the preference of our Customers.
Bio-Based materials are partially sourced from plants and vegetables and for their production it is used biomass energy.
Materials that come from plastic bottles waste, discarded fishing nets, and other plastic scraps.
In-house material with circular recycling process that comes from the regeneration of industrial sunglasses scraps.
