We are proud and excited to announce that on March 30th Mirage achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification for the creation and implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS).
ISO 14001 certification serves as one of the most important environmental standards and is an especially important milestone for Mirage.
Creating and implementing an EMS represents an immense transformation: “Our company has evolved in our DNA, the attitude of change comes from our family’s heritage, and I am thankful that this approach is as present today as it was in the ‘80s. Through intense teamwork and effort, we actualized adaptation and forged the pathway to precise and ecologically responsible actions”, declares Jessica Rossetti, Chief Sustainability Officer of Mirage.
QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ARE UNALTERABLE VALUES
Since 1985, Mirage has been distinguished for its manufacturing skills in producing state-of-the-art sunglasses that are delivered worldwide. The quality of products and services we deliver, and the attention and care to detail are part of our values and are integrated throughout our operations, environmental aspects included.
Opening our eyes to environmental problems that are affecting our planet, we started thinking about how to contribute to the protection and preservation of it.
In 2016 Mirage commenced its first investments in technology, machinery, and product R&D with the objective to reduce the impact of our processes and optimize our energy performance and consumption. Mirage’s implementation of an EMS, to control our operational performance and ensure continuous improvement, began in 2019.

Our EMS evaluates all environmental aspects and risks relevant to our operations, related to:

- Water Consumption
- Air Pollution and Emissions
- Raw materials
- Waste Management
- Education and Training
- Maintenance
- Investments in Environmental Responsibility
- Chemical Substances
Through a standardized and analytical approach, we have a strategy in place for managing these aspects and set goals to ensure that our commitment to environmental impact reduction endures.
HOW ACTIONS UPHOLD OUR VISION?
Who is against environmental protection? Hopefully nobody. Today, we all care about the issues that affect our planet but how are we all involved in putting words into action? For Mirage, the decision to certify our EMS was mandatory as we think that only through an analytical and transparent approach, being compliant with a standardized process, grants a credible commitment to the environment. The audits and certification by a regulatory and independent third party (SQS) demonstrate to our partners and team members that our actions uphold our vision.
A CIRCULAR IMPROVEMENT MINDSET THAT LEADS TO EVOLUTION
Coherent with ISO’s continuous improvement approach, we ensure to reach our goals through a systematic 4-stages mindset: PLAN – DO – CHECK – ACT. This model grants consistency to our management throughout time and contributes to the evolution and success of our organization.
Mirage CSO Jessica Rossetti adds: “It is the first ISO certification that we achieved and behind this accomplishment, was a lot of effort: we established a team of people to manage all environmental aspects, all of whom were already part of our Mirage family, which allowed us to grow our internal operational skill sets. We invested in our team for training and education, supported by the experienced group Univa Servizi, both for the creation of the management system and for its implementation, and it is thanks to the commitment and dedication of our team that we have this positive outcome”.

Keeping our environmental impact under control, optimizing our energy performances, and minimizing its consumption is not only a matter that involves Mirage but requires the active participation of all of us in order to ensure an effective change and healthy growth.
Moreover, the ISO 14001-2015 standard is also coherent with 12 out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) included in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015.
